Australia and its territories are home to over 900 species of bird, with over 40% of these classified as endemic to Australia and found nowhere else on earth. It has been suggested that up to 10% of Australian bird species may go extinct by the year 2100 as a result of climate change.

Queensland, the second-largest state in Australia has the greatest biodiversity of bird species, with 684 species of bird recorded probably due to the wide diversity of habitat.

Most of these birds I have photographed in and around Brisbane including Kedron Brook which flows through Brisbane’s Northern Suburbs, Ennoggera Reservoir, Sandy Camp Reserve, Oxley Creek Common, Tinchi Tamba and Boondall Wetlands, Bribie Island and Lamington National Park.
