New Zealand Alpine Flora and Fauna by definition occur above the climatic treeline. Reaching most alpine sites necessitate a long and arduous climb with wind being the ever present enemy when it comes to macro photography.   However, the pleasure of first finding and then capturing a perfect plant specimen in its natural surroundings is very rewarding.  These plants have all been photographed in th South Island of New Zealand
